The Ugly Duckling Book Review

The Ugly Duckling

It’s around the birth of an ugly duckling that this fairy tale is developed. Mom Duck was looking  for her little babies, one day in summer her eggs cracked, and one by one her little ducks went out of them, when the last egg cracked, all the animals around the nest realize that the last duck was different from the others, he was grey and his croak wasn’t the same of their brothers and sisters. But despite of those differences and his appearance, her mother really loved him as she loved her other little ducks. In the middle of the story the Ugly Duckling passes through some bullying problems, It could be say that those animals who lived in the farm wasn’t  friendly with the Ugly Duckling and It was because of their rejection that he decided to run away from home. But it was when he was more sad and discouraged that he discovered the truth.

The characters of the story are well- drawn and each one of them have a very important role in the fairy tale for example the duck’s mom is the good and comprehensive mom’s role model and the little ducks are the typical brothers and sisters that you could find in a family, the animals from the farm are very hostile and they represent may be the society and his critical role. These characters are made thinking about how to teach something to each kid or person who read the story.

The fairy tale was written for children so of course their written style is a literary fairy tale. It is very easy to read and also very interesting, It is not boring or too long as some fairy tales so, since the moment you get the book on your hands and read its first lines, the story is going to catch your attention and you would want to read it and at the end of the fairy tale you will realize that you’ll have learned something about it.

I absolutely recommend the book, It doesn’t matter which version of the book you are going to read, the story is highly educational and even more if you are a child but don’t worry if you are a teenager or an adult I’m sure you would certainly find it appealing.
